The growing number of electronics
companies to have been approved with the RoHS Trusted Kitemark,
now includes Diamond Electronics.
During the presentation of their
license at BSI Headquarters in Hemel Hempstead, Diamond Electronics’
Quality Manager Darren Spencer said, ‘Diamond has recognised
that RoHS is here to stay, and we need to give our customers confidence
that we are exercising due diligence in accordance with The RoHS
Directive. We have made a significant investment in IT, training
and logistics’ he continued, ‘to ensure that the processes
implemented as part of our material control plan, satisfy our customers’
requirements. Being awarded the RoHS Trusted Kitemark recognises
our understanding of RoHS and thoroughness of the processes we have
put in place.’
The RoHS directive continues
to have a major effect on the electronics industry, and many companies
are still coming to terms with its impact. Designed to help companies
throughout the supply chain, the RoHS Trusted Kitemark identifies
suppliers taking reasonable steps to ensure that their products
comply with the requirements of The Directive.
There are three elements to the
RoHS Trusted Kitemark: the Material Control Plan; Ongoing Assessment;
and Ongoing Analysis. Its licensees demonstrate a thorough understanding
of The Directive and its implications. This knowledge is then
|
used throughout an organisation to ensure that
all relevant personnel have a thorough and appropriate understanding
of The Directive. This is then communicated to both suppliers and
customers of a company, to make sure that requirements and responsibilities
in line with the directive are understood and implemented.
