Alpha Micro brings new
American start-up to UK
microprocessor market

A new range of ARM architecture-based system-on–chip (SoC) products from American fabless semiconductor start-up Luminary Micro, is set to revolutionise the microprocessor market. The company has concluded an agreement with Alpha Micro Components, which will distribute these innovative products in the UK.

Jean Anne Booth, Chief Marketing Officer, Luminary Micro, said: “When looking for a distribution partner in the UK, Alpha Micro was our natural choice. Not only do they have an excellent technical team, enabling them to bring OEM products to market sooner, but they are also skilled in demand creation.

“Our new range of products is based on the ARM architecture; it was therefore essential that our UK partner had a thorough knowledge of the technology as well as an enhanced understanding of how it can be used with industry-specific and embedded applications.”

Based in Austin, Texas, Luminary Micro develops pioneering SoC products with applications in industrial, medical, commercial and consumer markets, under the direction of its team of highly seasoned professionals who have all held senior roles at many of the world’s leading manufacturers of electronic components.

Christos Papakyriacou, Managing Director, Alpha Micro Components commented:“Luminary Micro’s new range of SoC products is set to change how microprocessors are received, and we are pleased to be involved in its launch in the UK.
