UK-based interconnect and optoelectronics
manufacturer, GTK, has ambitious growth
plans. Currently on course to hit its target of £8.8M sales
in 2007/08, its three year plan is to profitably grow the business
to £15 million by the end of 2009-10. GTK sees potential for
growth in all geographic locations, having experienced continuous
improvement in sales over the last three years. Its objective is
to grow organically, principally with business from the UK, Germany
and Taiwan.
To this end, GTK has implemented
a number of new initiatives, including a product group structure
which was established in 2007. Three Business Managers are now responsible
for Connectors and Cable Assemblies; Product Fabrication and PCBs;
and Optoelectronics. A branch office originally opened in Taiwan
to provide the link between UK sales and Far Eastern manufacturers,
now accounts for 13% of overall direct sales; to support growth
in Europe, GTK Electronics GmbH in Germany was opened in February
2008; and during 2007, the business of another UK-based cable assembly
company was acquired with the aim of over-all business expansion.

GTK growth in interconnection market
The markets for connectors and cables in the UK and Germany now
stand at £1375M and £1719M, respectively, illustrating that the
company is operating in a market where there is great potential
to grow market share. The prime objective of GTK is to offer European-made,
as well as Far Eastern manufactured cable assemblies, to its global
customers.
