Digital signage player contains 2.8GHz Pentium P4 processor

A new Digital Signage Player from ONELAN contains a 2.8GHz Pentium P4 processor, allowing the display of high definition (HD) media and complex flash animations.

The NTB3000 is part of a range of players that provides Digital Signage images on any plasma, LCD or projected display screen. The displayed media can originate from a wide selection of user-supplied media, or from free-to-air news channels for information displays in large organisations such as hospitals, schools, corporate buildings, restaurants and hotels.

Retailing at £1,650 (ca. 2.500 Euro), the NTB3000 offers a storage capacity of 80GB for user media, and consumes around 120W using an integral, universal input voltage mains PSU. It provides a 10/100/1000BaseT LAN interface, and will display in both portrait and landscape mode, which is beneficial in retail applications where portrait display orientation is popular.

An additional model, NTB115, which retails at £1,395, is designed for less intensive applications, is based on a 1GHz VIA C3 processor, offering a storage capacity of 80GB for user media and operating from a 60W external power brick. This box provides a 10/100BaseT LAN interface, and contains an integrated module that provides VGA over CAT5 out of the Net-Top-Box. It allows VGA and audio signals to be transmitted over standard CAT5/CAT6 cabling.

With an integral 6-way transmitter, the NTB produces up to 6 output signals and delivers high-clarity images and audio up to 300 metres over the industry standard, low-cost cabling. Individual receivers convert the CAT signals back to VGA and audio at remote displays.

This provides a universal and more way to wire from a Digital Signage player into virtually any type of industry display, saves space in the rack, and removes the need for additional power supplies. The use of standard cabling allows high flexibility in many installation environments.

Says David Dalzell, Director of ONELAN: "The NTB3000 was developed as a direct response to requests from the channel for a product with the power to display more complex Flash animations. Furthermore, because of the increased deployment of HD over the next couple of years, it was vital for us to launch a product that complements HD technology." The Net-Top-Box can be deployed standalone or built into a large network of players distributed over a campus, a county, a country or indeed a continent.
