Hammond re-launches
Following their acquisition of West Hyde Enclosures, which ceased trading, has resumed manufacture using the original tooling, giving continuity of supply for customers who had previously specified the West Hyde enclosures. This development is marked with the relaunch of the Clipper family, an entry level flameproof ABS enclosure intended for housing small PCBs for hand-held applications. Four sizes are available, measuring from between 40 x 60 x 19mm and 125 x 70 x 22mm, in either black or grey, with PCB mounting standoffs moulded into the interior. The three largest sizes incorporate a battery compartment suitable for either a 9V PP3 or 2 x AA batteries. To assist the use of labels, silk screening and membrane keyboards, the top surface of the enclosure is completely flat; machining for switches and indicators is also very simple. A removable plastic front panel is captured between the two halves of the enclosure, with a lap joint construction that protects against the entry of dust.

The satin texture finish of these enclosures affords good wear resistance, and they are ergonomically styled to provide a comfortable grip.
