Smallest Dual-Channel 20W Class D Audio Amplifier

November 2005...Monolithic Power Systems (MPS) is now shipping the MP7722, an ultra compact 2 x 20W Class D audio amplifier.

Delivering 20W into 4W (10% THD) and integrating four 180mW MOSFETs, it achieves 93% efficiency at full output power. The MP7722 features a unique closed loop topology that provides excellent linearity with a very low THD+N of 0.06% at 1kHz, while the Company’s proprietary variable switching frequency topology reduces the magnitude of EMI spikes during operation. Other features include adjustable gain via two external resistors, power-on/off pop & click suppression, and thermal/short-circuit protection. In addition, the amplifier incorporates mute and standby modes for lower power consumption.

Available in a small TSSOP package, the MP7722 is the most compact solution in its class.
