New low-cost socketing system is RohS compliant

Expanding on its 2go range, connector manufacturer GTK has released an extremely low cost Turned Pin IC socket.

With their highly-robust construction, this RoHS-compliant turned-pin IC socket is more reliable than conventional stamped and formed pin sockets, providing a safe and cost-effective system for socketing expensive ICs or holding the firmware, during the debugging phase of a new design. It is manufactured with a highquality 4-finger gold-plated contact in the pin, which reduces contact resistance to a maximum of 10mΩ.

Having a low profile of 4.2mm and an open frame, the socket is normally installed on a PCB where it enables the removal of a package only as necessary, and may also provide an interface between the PCB and a test instrument. It is compliant with UL94V- 0 flammability rating, and withstands temperatures between -55 and +125°C.

Its insulation resistance is a minimum 1000MΩ at 500Vdc, and it incorporate an antiwicking construction that reduces solder failures.
