A new connector technology from Harwin is
designed for ease of use; to withstand
dust, water or chemical ingress; and tolerate
misalignment.
Fabricated using highly durable plastics, Hot
Shoe connectors employ spring-loaded or
compliant contacts which maintain a positive contact force against the mating half of the
connector. This effects reliable connection
even under the most demanding conditions,
and their robust nature ensures continued
reliability throughout the entire lifecycle,
whether in the combat arena or in less harsh
environments.
With their low mating force, the Hot Shoe
range enables rapid and simple connection.
Mating misalignment is tolerated, and
versions of the connectors are polarised to
prevent this possibility. These factors make
the Series suitable for use in portable
equipment, where separate battery modules
are used; for data transfer docking stations;
for battery charging applications; and in
data communications equipment. Other
typical applications include thermal imaging
cameras, in-vehicle detachable equipment,
and hand held scanners.
Harwin leads the market in this field and has
in-house manufacturing capabilities ranging
from initial design consultation to full
production, resulting in close control of
costs. The company works together with
customers to fully understand what is
required and offers a fast turnaround on
prototypes.
