Improved contacts for horizontal mounting For high-reliability applications, has introduced the Datamate L-Tek and J-Tek SMT connectors, which offer an improved accuracy of co-planarity in situations requiring horizontal board mounting. They will be displayed for the first time at The Datamate L-Tek and J-Tek horizontal, surfacemount male connectors use a new contact system guaranteeing co-planarity of mould and contact. They are available in a range of mounting options, have the ability to withstand very high bending and shear forces, and can be used reliably with pickand- place equipment. Conventionally, horizontal board-mount connectors employ a straight pin that is bent twice to produce a horizontal contact, which can make it difficult to ensure that the component sits squarely on the board. Moreover, bending the pin incorrectly may lead to handling problems with pick-and-place equipment. Datamate L-Tek and JTek connectors eliminate this hazard by using a contact system which is pre-stamped, avoiding the need for bending.
