Launched into the business sector, for which
it was specifically designed, Cherry Electrical
Products has recently celebrated the
production of the 25 millionth NTK New
Technology Keyboard. It was first released
in 1993, offering hgh reliability (up to 50
million strokes per key) and simplicity of
installation (no software required to connect
keyboard to computer), factors which have
sustained its popularity in offices in central Europe, representing a low-risk investment
for IT decision makers in business.

The NTK offered a completely new design
using a metal sheet and membrane, with a
metal plate in the base to increase endurance.
The models are now produced in
black, white, USB and PS/2 with standard
lettering, extra large characters for those
with poor eye-sight, as well as lower caselettering
for children in primary schools
learning to write. This format is also the
basis for the company's smartcard and
biometric models.
This technology has been further developed
and incorporated into Cherry's luxury
eVolution NGP range of keyboards. Says
Peter Cherry, President of Cherry, "For the
last 13 years, Cherry has been producing a
highly-reliable tool for the business sector.
Today, the same technology has been
applied also to fulfil the ergonomic and
design needs of today's style-conscious
businesses." The NGP range, which includes
ultra-flat, lightweight keyboards of
contemporary design, has allowed the
company to bridge the gap between the b2b
and consumer markets, allowing Cherry a
30% growth in new accounts this year.
