A new range of low profile,
keypad switches from ITT Electronic
Components combines high performance, usability and robustness
with an extremely fast switching response and a pleasant, tactile
feel.
Embodying an extremely slim switch design, the KMX Series is a mere
0.58mm thick, and with a footprint of only 4.3mm x 4.1mm it also
saves PCB space. Its normally open contacts close with an audible
click produced by a robust mechanism that is certified for 250k
cycles. And with a long travel distance, it also supports a better
feeling for the user than a standard keyboard switch.
Four gull-wing terminals attach the switch to the board, providing
good co-planarity and reliability, while stand-off terminals ensure
space is left under the switch for PCB tracks. Each incorporates
a ground pin for ESD protection, and is available with or without
an integral actuator, KMX1 or KMX2 respectively, to provide it with
bettercentered actuation. Gold and silver contact plating options
are supported.

The KMX series switches are suited to a multitude of applications
requiring acomfortable, miniature, robust keypad with a long life.
These include PDAs, smart phones, MP3 players, cameras, keyfobs, and
systems requiring a customized keyboard interface. The Series meets
the requirements of the RoHS Directive.
