Dexter low loss ferrite makes
for efficient transformers
Specialist magnetic and ferrite components supplier Dexter
Magnetics is introducing a new low-loss
ferrite material from TDK, featuring low core loss and high saturation
flux density, resulting in smaller, higher performance cores for
transformers.
The PC47 has a core loss of 250kW/m3 at 100kHz, 200mT, 100°C
- significantly lower than previous generation materials - and a
saturation flux density of 420mT at 1000A/m, 100°C, which also
out-performs PC44 and PC40 ferrite grades.
Because PC47 ferrite maintains its impressive low loss characteristics
across a wide frequency range, from 100 to 300kHz, it enables designers
to reduce the size of transformers used in switching power supplies,
CCFL LCD backlighting, adapters/chargers for notebook PCs and other
portable equipment.
Available in EI, EIR, EL, ELT, ER and PQI shapes, PC47 ferrite cores
come in all popular sizes. Dexter Magnetics also has many other
grades and styles of ferrite core in stock.
