SynQor
has added a new DC/DC Converter to its non-isolated, NiQor product
line, in one of the smallest packages in the industry.
Optimized to provide high efficiency, fast transient response, and
low output noise, the NQ10W50PKA07 Series delivers a full 7A of
output current and is perfect as a low voltage POL converter in
Intermediate Bus
Architecture (IBA) applications.
Reducing output noise by as much as 75% and providing up to 5% improved
efficiency, the Series sets a new standard in high performance,
non-isolated DC/DC converters. Input and output voltage ranges are
stated as 10.2 to 13.2V and 0.75 to 5.0V, respectively, and with
the ability to supply the full rated output of 7.0A up to 85°C
with just 100LFM (0.5m/s) of airflow, the modules are up to 94%
efficient.
Excellent thermal performance with minimal power dissipation make
the NQ10W50PKA07 ideal for environments with low airflow and strict
power requirements, while a low profile of just 0.232in and footprint
of only 0.4 x 0.9in affords increased layout and
design flexibility.
Four versions of the device enable the selection of that most suited
to a given application.

They include a discontinuous, mode to achieve high conversion efficiency
at both low and high output voltages; or a forced continuous mode,
to achieve an extremely fast transient response and low output voltage
ripple.
Both modes may optionally use an internal reference point providing
+/- 5% marginin using digital input signals, or an external reference
point allowing custom voltages to be set using an external reference
voltage. Standard control and protection features include On/Off control
positive logic, input UVLO, remote sense, foldback current limit and
short circuit protection, and thermal shutdown.
