Now available from Foremost Electronics is
the first in a series of new switch families,
from ELMA.
The 16-position C08 Miniature Coded Panel
Switch is believed to be the world's smallest
coded panel switch to combine high torque
tactile feedback (3 Ncm), long life (10,000
cycles), and compatibility with lead-free
reflow soldering. Measuring only 9 x 9 x
10mm, this RoHS-compliant switch is a
space-saving user control for price-sensitive
mobile or handheld applications such as
two-way radios, instrumentation and
medical equipment. Surface mounting is
standard, and the switch offers Gray, Hex or
Hex Complement codes. High torque is
maintained consistently over the rated life of
10k cycles.
Ideally suited to use in low profile
equipment, the CO8 has its operating shaft
centreline only 4.65mm from the PCB.
Options include threaded and plain bush
variants; end stop; a THT (through-holetechnology)
version, by special request; and
tape-and-reel packaging for fully automated
assembly. For medium and high volume
users, a customisation service is also
available.
Stemming from ELMA's ultra-compact
switch development programme, the CO8 is
the first among a series featuring the same,
compact body size. Rated at 42V, 10mA,
0.12W, the switch features an operational
temperature range of -40 to +85°C, and is
contained in a tin-plated die-cast housing designed for reflow soldering to an
additional PCB mounting pad. Samples and
full data are available on request. |
