Low cost transmitter simplifies installation and calibration

A new and highly accurate analogue transmitter for use with PT100 temperature sensors, has been launched in the UK by specialist distributor, Hawco Controls.

Introduced as the C201, from Inor, this stable and easy-to-use device amplifies the resistive signal from a PT100 sensor, and transmits it to a remote PLC or control panel location within a radius of up to a few hundred metres. It accepts inputs from standard two- and three-wire PT100 sensor interfaces, including IEC 60751, JIS C 1604, and several US standards; and delivers a fully temperature-linear 4 to 20mA output to an accuracy of ±0.1°C, stable to ±0.1% of range per year.

Because the C201 is PC-programmable using ConSoft, Inor's Windows-based software, calibration and configuration can be effected in seconds. ConSoft enables the setting of such parameters as sensor type, measurement range, sensor failure action and error correction. Accuracy can be maximized by matching to a calibrated temperature sensor, and the configuration can be read or edited without a separate power supply simply by connecting the C201 to the USB port of a PC.

Tested for vibration up to10G, and with a low profile and weight of only 3g, the C201 is simple to install and is ideally suited for use in both general and harsh environments. Detailed specifications are given on the Hawco web site.
