Robust and versatile incremental encoder launched at Electronica

A rugged and durable new incremental encoder, regarded as offering the ultimate encoding solution for industry, aviation, transport, defence, entertainment and medical technology, has been announced by Foremost Electronics, and will be launched by its creators, Elma Group, at Electronica 2006, Stand No. C3.641.

Designed for applications ranging from routine industrial automation to state-ofthe- art weapon systems, the Elma E33 Incremental Encoder provides a truly versatile, low-profile encoder that meets the highest specifications. It is the product of years of research and development by Swiss precision manufacturers, Elma Group, and is set to move electronic encoding on to the next generation.

The Elma E33 provides a broad spectrum of innovative features which include 16 or 32 detents standard resolution and an excellent indexing feel, with 2 or 3Ncm constant switching torque. It offers a rotational life of 200,000 revolutions, with an operational temperature range of -40 to +85°C, is housed in a robust metal body of 11.5 x 12.3 x 4.9mm, and has a metal shaft.

With the option of push-button switches and IP67 front panel sealing, the E33 provides a versatile and scaleable system platform that is ideally suited to a broad spectrum of functions. These include value and menu control; instrumentation and test equipment for aviation; frequency and channel setting for transceivers; user interface controls for medical devices; volume and menu setting for transportation control and entertainment systems.

The ultimate encoder, catalogue or custom

And with the potential for various shaft dimensions and shapes, indexing resolution and PPR, it may be customised to meet individual user requirements. Yet despite this custom capability, it may be supplied even in small quantities.
